February is not just a month for celebrating love—it's also a time to raise awareness about heart health, especially for women. Go RED for Women Day is a powerful reminder to take care of our hearts and to support those who dedicate their lives to saving others. Cardiologists and interventional radiologists play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating heart conditions, and we are proud to provide the products that help them in their vital work.

That’s why we offer a wide range of high-quality radiation protection products—such as Guardian Radiation Protection Gear, lead aprons, and lead gloves—designed to keep healthcare professionals safe while they perform life-saving procedures. Attention All Imaging Departments: We Can All Do Our Part on America Recycle Day

It’s important that we do our part and recycle all those old lead x-ray aprons that may be laying around. As we know, lead is very harmful to the environment and must be disposed of properly. It’s important to note that some states may have different regulations and requirements than others, so check your local disposal regulations.

A few ways for lead apron disposal:

  1. Contact a recycling company. You can contact a local recycling (or “re-claimer”) scrap metal company and see if they recycle lead products.
  2. Contact your hazardous waste carrier or handling company. Sometimes a local hazardous waste carrier or handling company will come to you and pick-up the lead apron. It’s important to follow your state and local regulations and check to confirm the handling company is licensed.
  3. Bring your aprons to a local landfill. Many local landfills will accept lead aprons however, sometimes landfills won’t accept lead aprons with large cracks or damage due to high toxicity levels.

There may be more ways to dispose of lead aprons but these are the most common and appropriate disposal methods. It’s important to know that you cannot throw away lead aprons in the regular trash!

Celebrating the Power of Imaging on International Day of Radiology!

The International Day of Radiology will take place on November 8 with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care and improving public understanding of the vital role radiologists and radiographers play in the healthcare continuum.

On this day, we promote the seismic impact of radiology on medicine – earlier detection, fewer surgeries, and game-changing treatment outcomes. It is an opportunity, not only to promote these benefits amongst our colleagues in healthcare and the public at large, but to reflect on them ourselves.

Today we celebrate the International Day of Radiology and the remarkable power of medical imaging! From X-rays to MRIs, radiology plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating millions of patients worldwide. This year’s theme honors the innovation and expertise that radiology brings to healthcare, advancing patient outcomes and enhancing lives. Thank you to all the radiology professionals who make this possible!
