National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday. Nursing professionals have never been more vital to the health of our nation than the past year and it’s more important than ever to support and recognize them for the essential role they play in their communities and the countless lives they touch every day. The American Nurses Association (ANA) announced on its website that National Nurses Week is now a monthlong celebration to expand opportunities to celebrate these superheroes of healthcare. This year will mark the 201st year of celebrating Nurses Week. Nurses have sacrificed so much for the community. It’s only fitting that there’s a week dedicated to giving back to them.
